Washington DC Kite Festival

Earlier this month we headed out to the Smithsonian DC Kite Festival.  We look forward to it every year but this time around the wind was a little bit finicky.  When we first arrived there were only several kites in the sky – we were actually wondering for a minute if we went on the wrong day!  Then a nice breeze would come through and hundreds of kites were instantly launched.  It sure is something to see.

My favorite photo this year wasn’t even kite related.  As we walked around the tidal basin through the cherry blossoms to get to the national mall, I saw this freshly pruned cherry blossom tree…

We picked up a cheap-o fish kite to fly and it turns out that my hubby is kind of a pro at kite flying.
